Ah, sweet youth. No matter whether you grew up sporting a fedora, penny loafers, poodle skirts, bell-bottoms, leg-warmers, skinny jeans, Madonna-inspired net shirts and rosaries, goth garb, a spikey mohawk, or even a wave that would put the Bieber to shame, you made a fashion statement, unique to you. Describe your favorite fashions from days of yore or current trends you think are stylin’.
My favorite fad was stretch pants and oversize t-shirts. I wasn’t old enough in the 80’s to care a wit about fashion, so I didn’t really get into it until the mid 90’s. High School!! Woooooo! I used to steal my Dad’s t-shirts and pair them up with my stretch pants and multiple pairs of boy socks so I had sock scrunch half-way to my knee. I was stylin’! I eventually decided that wearing 4 pairs of socks for fashion was rediculous and it made my feet sweat, so I cut off the tops of 3 additional pairs of socks. My mother was so mad! I had the worlds largest collection of oversized t-shirts, most of them with sarcastic phrases printed on the front. This is how I spent most of my time in High School. It was comfortable too, which is always a good thing for me.
I wonder now why I have such a problem with the “Tights as Pants” fad?? Any guesses?
